Hyundai’s Connectivity Concept Replaces Key with Smartphone
Hyundai is moving further and further from its budget car roots and is using technology to make a name for itself.
they say this could enter production as early as 2015.
The Korean automaker is working on a system that allows you to open your car using your cell phone
“With this technology, Hyundai is able to harness the all-in-one functionality of existing smartphone technology and integrating it into everyday driving in a seamless fashion. As the technology continually develops there will be capabilities to store driver’s seating positions and exterior mirror settings, providing customers with a comfortable and individual driving environment,” said Allan Rushforth, senior VP and CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe.
The system was installed on an i30 displayed near their European headquarters in Frankfurt, Germany. This so called Connectivity Concept locks or unlocks the doors when you move your cell phone over the top of the NFC-tag (Near Field Communication) placed over the top of the door.
